Includes instructions on indexing External Drives, not natively supported in most older versions, and the old ones that do, don't work onnewer systems with IE7+ Office 2007 etc.
Current version on X1's website 6.7.2 does natively support indexing external drives, but sadly it has ActiveX intentionally"blocked" which prevents viewing HTML pages with Flash on them (morons!), but this one does work, and should also work on Vista.
Unsure if this one will work in Windows 7,but a 6.0 version has been reported to work in Win7 so this one likely will also. Let us know if it does.
I use this to primarily view my large template collection and such…. Triedeverything else, and this is the only thing that fully works. Copernic and DocFetcher for example have several limitations.
If you want "text search" only, I would recommend"Super Text Search" for fast non-indexing searching, and/or Archivarius 3000 which indexes EVERYTHING on a drive. X1's likely as good in text searching every file inexistance I think, especially most anything important, but Archivarius for example might be the most perfect at that ability. PowerGREP also might be good, but I haven't testedthat one, seems to be one of the top.
